Dengue Toll Rises Sharply in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

 


Peshawar, The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) health authorities on Monday sounded the alarm as dengue fever cases climbed notably, with 82 new infections reported over the past 24 hours. The total active caseload now stands at 90, while 398 people have been infected since the start of the season. Among these, 308 patients have fully recovered.


Districts Under the Microscope

Charsadda has emerged as the province’s primary hotspot, accounting for 73 of the 90 active cases. Other districts reporting cases include:

  • Abbottabad and Mansehra — 3 active cases each
  • Nowshera — 3 cases
  • Mardan and Peshawar — 1 case each
  • Haripur, Tank, and Lakki Marwat — 1 or 2 cases each


Health Advisories Go Live

Authorities have urged citizens to strictly adhere to dengue prevention strategies:

  • Use mosquito repellents and nets
  • Eliminate stagnant water from home and surroundings
  • Maintain cleanliness to deter vector breeding

Residents are also encouraged to seek immediate medical attention if symptoms align with dengue infection.
