Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, the veteran politician said that Saudi Arabia has always stood by Pakistan in difficult times, and the defence pact reflects a deepening trust between the two nations. He emphasized that closer military cooperation would not only enhance Pakistan’s defence capabilities but also strengthen the broader Islamic world.
“Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share religious, cultural, and historic ties. Strengthening defence cooperation is a natural extension of our long-standing friendship,” Maulana Fazl remarked.
The JUI-F leader further noted that the agreement comes at a time of rising instability in the Middle East and South Asia. He said greater collaboration between Muslim countries would serve as a counterbalance to external pressures.
The defence pact, signed earlier this week, includes joint military training, technology transfer, and cooperation in defence production. Officials believe the move will open new avenues of strategic partnership between Islamabad and Riyadh.
