The National Emergencies and Operations Center (NEOC) has confirmed two new cases of polio in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to the report, the cases were detected in the districts of Lakki Marwat and North Waziristan, areas that remain high-risk for poliovirus transmission.

Officials said the emergence of new cases highlights the persistent challenges in eradicating the disease, particularly in regions where vaccination drives face resistance, inaccessibility, and misinformation.

Health authorities stressed that extensive vaccination campaigns are ongoing, with frontline health workers making efforts to reach children in remote and underserved communities. The government has reiterated its commitment to eradicating polio, urging parents to ensure their children under five receive all recommended doses.

Pakistan, along with Afghanistan, remains among the only two countries where polio is still endemic. Experts warn that any lapse in vaccination efforts could reverse the progress made in recent years.
