A massive surge has been witnessed on X (formerly Twitter), where thousands of Pakistanis are demanding the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who has now spent 774 days in prison.

Trending hashtags such as #FreeImranKhan, #ReleaseKhan, and #JusticeForImran dominated the platform throughout the day, with supporters posting messages, videos, and images to highlight their concerns over the fairness of Khan’s incarceration.

Political observers note that Khan’s prolonged detention has become a rallying point for his supporters, with social media emerging as the primary platform for expressing dissent. Many posts accused the government of political victimization, while others framed Khan as a “symbol of resistance” against the country’s status quo.

Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was arrested in 2023 following multiple cases filed against him. Since then, calls for his release have intensified both domestically and internationally. Human rights organizations have also urged authorities to ensure due legal process and transparency in his trials.

While government officials have so far refrained from issuing fresh statements on the trending campaign, analysts believe the growing online pressure could translate into increased political heat on the ground, especially as Pakistan’s political climate remains deeply polarized.
