President Asif Ali Zardari arrived in Chengdu, China today to begin a 10-day official visit, responding to an invitation from the Chinese government.
The presidential delegation includes senior officials and advisors who will accompany Zardari on visits to Shanghai and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region over the course of the trip. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations, expand trade and economic cooperation, and discuss progress on key initiatives under the China‑Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Upon arrival at Shuangliu International Airport, President Zardari was received by Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong, Sichuan Vice Governor Huang Ruixue, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi, and Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong.
Officials confirmed that the visit will include high-level meetings to discuss trade expansion, infrastructure development, connectivity projects, and regional security cooperation. Talks will also focus on multilateral collaboration and strategic partnership initiatives under the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership framework.
The 10-day visit reflects the long-standing diplomatic and strategic ties between Islamabad and Beijing, underscoring both countries’ commitment to enhancing economic, trade, and security collaboration in the region.
