Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif landed in Riyadh on Monday for an official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where he was given a rare and high-profile welcome. His aircraft was escorted by Saudi Royal Air Force F-15 fighter jets as it entered Saudi airspace, reflecting the strong bilateral ties between the two nations.

Upon arrival, the Prime Minister was warmly received by senior Saudi officials and members of the royal family at King Khalid International Airport. The special gesture of a jet escort is seen as a significant mark of respect reserved for close allies and dignitaries.

During his visit, Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to hold talks with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and other Saudi leaders. The discussions are expected to cover a wide range of issues, including investment, trade, energy cooperation, and the welfare of the Pakistani diaspora in Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia remains one of Pakistan’s closest allies, providing both economic support and strategic cooperation over the years. Analysts view this high-level welcome as a sign of Riyadh’s continued commitment to strengthening ties with Islamabad at a critical time.

The Prime Minister is also expected to perform Umrah during his stay, alongside attending official meetings and signing bilateral agreements aimed at enhancing Pakistan–Saudi relations.
