Authorities have initiated legal proceedings to declare property tycoon Malik Riaz and his son Ali Riaz as proclaimed offenders after repeated failure to appear before the courts in ongoing corruption and land-related cases.
According to official sources, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has informed the court that both individuals have ignored multiple summons and notices. As a result, the court has begun the process of declaring them absconders under the relevant sections of the law.
The move comes amid increasing scrutiny of high-profile business figures accused of financial irregularities, illegal land allotments, and misuse of authority. NAB officials stated that all legal requirements, including public notices and summons, have been completed, and the matter is now under judicial consideration.
If declared proclaimed offenders, Malik Riaz and Ali Riaz could face further restrictions, including the freezing of assets, blacklisting of travel documents, and possible international warrants.
This development marks another significant step in Pakistan’s accountability drive, as authorities intensify efforts to bring influential figures to justice.
