The Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) has imposed a lifetime ban on Salman Iqbal Butt, the coach of Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem, barring him from all athletics-related activities.
In addition, Syed Habib Shah, the Secretary of the Punjab Athletics Association, has been banned for 10 years from participating in any athletics events or administrative roles.
According to the Federation, the disciplinary action was taken over unauthorized elections held by the Punjab Athletics Association, which were deemed illegal and unconstitutional.
The AFP has also declared the elections null and void, stating that the process violated the Federation’s constitution. To address the issue, an inquiry committee has been formed to further investigate the matter.
