The highly anticipated clash between Pakistan and India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is expected to take place on February 8, 2026, in Colombo, promising another thrilling encounter between the cricketing giants.
The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is scheduled to run from February 7 to March 8, 2026, and will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Matches will be played across at least five cities in India and two venues in Sri Lanka, with the final match expected to be held either in Ahmedabad or Colombo, depending on a “hybrid model” that considers whether Pakistan reaches the final stage of the tournament.
A total of 20 teams will participate in the event. Alongside the hosts, the top seven teams from the 2024 T20 World Cup—Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, USA, and West Indies—have qualified directly. Pakistan, New Zealand, and Ireland have also secured direct entry based on rankings.
Regional qualifiers have added Canada (Americas), Netherlands and Italy (Europe—with Italy making their T20 World Cup debut), Namibia and Zimbabwe (Africa), and Nepal, Oman, and UAE (Asia) to the tournament lineup.
The tournament format will mirror the previous World Cup, with 20 teams divided into four groups of five. The top two teams from each group will progress to the Super Eight stage, followed by the semi-finals and final, culminating in a month of high-octane T20 cricket.
