Health authorities in Rawalpindi have reported 14 new dengue cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of patients this season to 1,177. Over 50 patients are currently under treatment at various hospitals, according to the Punjab Health Department, which said anti-dengue operations are continuing in affected areas to curb further spread.
This season, more than 18,000 people have been screened for dengue in the district, with no deaths reported so far. Authorities said inspections have been carried out at over 5.9 million buildings, uncovering dengue larvae at 189,176 houses, while around 26,000 locations have been declared high-risk hotspots.
Officials have registered 4,630 cases for violating dengue prevention SOPs, sealed 1,882 sites, and imposed fines totaling over Rs 11 million. The health department reiterated that strict action will continue against those ignoring dengue control measures.
In Islamabad, the district administration has intensified anti-dengue field operations, conducting fogging at 2,006 locations and completing inspections at 41,709 sites. Over the last 24 hours, 31 new dengue patients have been confirmed — 16 from rural and 15 from urban areas — bringing the city’s active patient count to 61.
Authorities found positive larvae at 402 sites during inspections and carried out sprays in over 1,000 homes. The administration warned that violations of anti-dengue protocols would lead to site closures and arrests, emphasizing that no negligence will be tolerated in the ongoing effort to make Islamabad dengue-free.
