YouTube has introduced a new feature called the “Daily Viewing Limit” to help users control how much time they spend watching Shorts videos. With this option, users can set a daily limit, and once that time is up, the Shorts feed will automatically stop, showing a message that reminds them to take a break.
The feature is currently available on mobile devices and can be turned on through the account settings in the app. Adult users can still dismiss the alert, but by 2026, YouTube plans to make it part of the parental control system for supervised accounts. Families can also connect this option with Apple’s Screen Time or Google’s Family Link tools.
YouTube says this update is part of its efforts to promote digital well-being and help people reduce endless scrolling. The company already offers features like “Take a Break” and “Bedtime Reminder.” The new tool started rolling out on October 22, 2025, showing YouTube’s commitment to helping users manage their screen time better.
