Azerbaijan celebrated the fifth anniversary of its Victory Day on November 8, 2025, with a grand military parade at Azadlig (Freedom) Square, commemorating the 2020 triumph in the Second Karabakh War. The event showcased Azerbaijan’s growing regional influence and strategic alliances, with leaders and military delegations from Pakistan and Turkey in attendance.

In his keynote address, President Ilham Aliyev paid tribute to the Azerbaijani Armed Forces and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to peace and reconstruction in the liberated territories of Karabakh, Shusha, and surrounding regions. He highlighted progress under the Great Return program, which aims to facilitate the safe resettlement of internally displaced citizens to their ancestral homes.

The parade featured a powerful display of military strength and international cooperation. Troops from Azerbaijan, Pakistan, and Turkey marched together in a show of unity, while a joint helicopter formation and the debut of Pakistan’s JF-17 Thunder fighter jets symbolized the deepening defense partnership among the three nations.

President Aliyev underscored the importance of regional stability and mutual respect, noting that cooperation with allied nations continues to strengthen Azerbaijan’s defense and diplomatic frameworks. Observers viewed the participation of Pakistani and Turkish forces as a clear message of solidarity and shared strategic vision in the South Caucasus region.

As Azerbaijan continues normalization efforts with Armenia, the Victory Day celebrations served as both a reminder of past triumphs and a call for sustained peace through strength and partnership.
