Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Ameer Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman said the party does not only criticize the current system but actively fights to reform it. He delivered the remarks while addressing a massive public gathering in Lahore.
Rehman stated that Pakistan’s citizens have been deprived of justice for decades. He said the country still lacks a fair and functional justice system, pointing out that more than 50,000 cases remain pending in the Supreme Court. “People have not received justice for years,” he told the crowd.
He criticized those “imposed over the nation,” claiming they fail to grant citizens — including women — their due rights. Rehman said women face some of the toughest challenges in society and stressed the need for focused training and empowerment. He added that every citizen must receive their rightful inheritance.
The JI chief accused political actors of dividing the nation along sectarian lines, saying such polarization weakens society. He stressed the urgent need for reform in policing laws. He also highlighted the alarming figure of more than 35 million children who remain out of school in Pakistan, calling it a national failure.
Rehman said empowering women and girls is one of the party’s core priorities. He announced that a free IT scholarship program for women will begin in December. He added that out of 1.2 million registrations for the "Bano Qabil" initiative, nearly 400,000 to 500,000 were female applicants. “A large number of these candidates passed their tests,” he said, praising their performance.
Returning to his earlier point, Rehman repeated that Jamaat-e-Islami does more than critique the system — it fights and negotiates to change it.
Speaking about global issues, he expressed solidarity with Palestinians, saying he remembers the mothers and sisters of Gaza at this critical moment. He claimed nearly 80,000 Palestinians have been martyred, adding that 70 percent of them were women and children. “Bodies are still being recovered from under the rubble,” he said.
