President Asif Ali Zardari hosted a grand dinner at the Presidential Palace in honor of delegates attending the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference, with representatives from over 40 countries participating.
The event was attended by National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani, and several federal ministers. President Zardari welcomed the delegates and expressed his delight at their participation, emphasizing that the conference had strengthened the spirit of parliamentary diplomacy.
Over the past two days, parliamentary leaders from around the world engaged in meaningful discussions aimed at promoting peace and development, enhancing mutual cooperation and trust.
Addressing the gathering, President Zardari noted that the world is currently facing economic, environmental, and security challenges, which can only be addressed through collective efforts. He also commended Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani for his leadership, stating that under his guidance, the conference opened new avenues for cooperation and friendship.
Senate Chairman Gilani thanked the President for hosting the dinner and recognized his role in promoting parliamentary diplomacy. He added that the conference advanced a shared vision of peace and development, with the Islamabad Declaration providing a clear roadmap for future stability and cooperation.
