RSF Accused of Killing 300 Women in El-Fasher

Sudanese Minister of State for Social Welfare, Salma Ishaq, has revealed that Rapid Support Forces (RSF) killed at least 300 women during the first two days after entering El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State in western Sudan. Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Ishaq said the women were also subjected to sexual assault, torture, and brutal violence.

“The RSF killed 300 women during the first two days of their entry into El-Fasher,” Ishaq stated, describing the events as acts of ethnic cleansing. She added that the El-Fasher–Tawila road had turned into a “road of death,” where anyone attempting to flee faces the threat of execution or assault.

The minister further warned that many families trapped in El-Fasher continue to face torture, humiliation, and sexual violence, calling the attacks “a major crime in which everyone is complicit through their silence.”

The RSF seized control of El-Fasher on October 26, sparking widespread outrage as local and international groups reported massacres of civilians. RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti) has since acknowledged that “violations” were committed by his forces and claimed that investigation committees are being formed.

The ongoing war between the Sudanese army and RSF, which erupted on April 15, 2023, has already claimed more than 20,000 lives and displaced over 15 million people, both internally and across borders, according to UN and local estimates.
