At least three police personnel were injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack on a police convoy in Doaba area of Hangu on Sunday. According to police sources, the convoy—carrying SP Investigation Abdul Samad, DSP Tall Mujahid, and SHO Imranuddin—came under attack as it was returning from a peace committee meeting.
The explosion left SHO Doaba Imranuddin, Sub-Inspector Jihad Ali, and District Special Branch official Abid injured. Following the blast, an exchange of fire took place between the police and unidentified assailants, after which the attackers fled the scene.
SP Investigation Abdul Samad Khan confirmed the incident, stating that their convoy was the intended target. He praised the quick response of the police force, which prevented further casualties.
It is worth noting that this attack comes just days after a previous bombing in Hangu, in which SP Operations Asad Zubair and three other officers were martyred, highlighting the ongoing security challenges in the region.
