Islamabad Local Government Election Date Announced

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has officially announced the schedule for local government elections in Islamabad, confirming that the polls will be held on 15 February 2026.

According to the ECP, Returning Officers will issue the public notice for nomination papers on 19 December 2025. Candidates will be able to submit their nomination papers from 22 to 27 December.

The scrutiny of nomination papers will take place from 30 December 2025 to 3 January 2026, while appeals against the Returning Officers’ decisions can be filed between 5 and 8 January 2026. Tribunals will decide on these appeals from 9 to 13 January 2026.

The last date for withdrawing nomination papers is 15 January 2026, after which the final list of candidates will be displayed on 16 January 2026. Election symbols will also be allotted on the same day.
