In an effort to improve traffic flow in the city, the Karachi Commissioner has extended the ban on the entry of two- and four-seater rickshaws on 25 major roads for an additional two months. A formal notification has been issued, warning that violations will result in legal action against the concerned area SHO.

According to the notification, the extension has been enforced under Section 144 on the recommendation of the traffic police. Authorities say the decision aims to ease congestion and ensure smoother traffic movement across Karachi’s busiest arteries.

The notification further states that the entry of rickshaws from Shahrah-e-Faisal to I.I. Chundrigar Road is strictly prohibited with immediate effect. In case of violations, police have been directed to register cases under Section 188 against offenders.

Officials emphasized that strict implementation of the ban is necessary to reduce traffic bottlenecks, particularly during peak hours, and to enhance road safety in the metropolis.

The roads included in the ban are Shahrah-e-Faisal, I.I. Chundrigar Road, Shahrah-e-Quaideen, Sher Shah Suri Road, and Shaheed-e-Millat Road. Other restricted routes include Abdullah Haroon Road to Two Talwar, Shahrah-e-Firdousi, Stadium Road, Sir Shah Suleman Road, and Rashid Minhas Road.

Additionally, rickshaws will remain barred from Mauripur Road, Shahrah-e-Pakistan, Hub Road, Qaidabad to Landhi No. 89, University Road, and Korangi Road from Qayyumabad to Korangi Crossing. The ban will also continue on Orangi Road, Super Highway to Malir Halt, and the route from Surjani Town to Sohrab Goth.

Authorities have urged transporters and drivers to comply with the notification to avoid legal consequences and help maintain traffic discipline in the city.
