Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday inaugurated a modern cancer hospital and medical college in Muzaffarabad, marking a major step toward improving specialized healthcare facilities in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, the prime minister said he personally understands the pain and challenges of cancer patients, having himself battled the disease in the past. He emphasized that for underprivileged and resource-constrained individuals, access to cancer treatment is often extremely difficult, making such healthcare institutions critically important.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the inauguration of the facility as a matter of great honor, stating that the hospital would provide high-quality medical services to the local population. He said that with the establishment of this center, patients would no longer be forced to travel to distant cities for cancer treatment, easing both financial and emotional burdens on families.

Highlighting the humanitarian aspect of healthcare, the prime minister said treating cancer patients is a noble service to humanity. “There is nothing greater than serving suffering humanity. Providing treatment to patients battling life-threatening diseases is among the highest forms of service,” he remarked.

During the ceremony, the prime minister formally inaugurated the Kashmir Institute of Nuclear Medicine, Oncology and Radiology, along with the Mirwaiz Maulvi Muhammad Farooq Shaheed Medical College. He expressed confidence that these institutions would play a vital role in strengthening the region’s healthcare system and producing skilled medical professionals for the future.

The inauguration was widely welcomed by local residents and health sector stakeholders, who termed the project a milestone in expanding advanced medical care in the region.
