Renowned Pakistani actress Saba Qamar Zaman has broken her silence for the first time after a legal petition was filed against her over allegedly wearing a police uniform without official permission.
According to multiple media reports, a petition has been submitted in the Lahore Sessions Court accusing the actress of unlawfully wearing an SP-rank police uniform. The case surfaced after a video began circulating on social media showing Saba Qamar in a dressing room wearing the uniform during what appeared to be a shoot.
The issue gained further attention when Saba Qamar reshared a post by a magazine that defended her. In a sarcastic remark, the magazine’s editor-in-chief questioned the criticism, writing that characters are required to wear outfits according to their roles — not according to “baseless assumptions.” The editor added that portraying a police officer would not realistically be done in bridal attire or casual clothing.
Reacting to the statement, Saba Qamar responded humorously, commenting, “Oh God! I’ve become extremely famous these days,” accompanied by smiling emojis, signaling a lighthearted response to the controversy.
The petition was filed by lawyer Aftab Bajwa on behalf of citizen Waseem Zawar. It argues that no individual is permitted to wear a police uniform or use the insignia of an SP without prior authorization from the relevant authorities, calling for legal action against the actress.
The court is yet to take up the matter for further proceedings, while the issue continues to spark debate on social media regarding artistic freedom and legal boundaries.
