Trump Invites Pakistan to Join Gaza Board of Peace

Pakistan has received a formal invitation from former U.S. President Donald Trump to join the proposed Gaza Board of Peace, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif invited to be part of the initiative, the Foreign Office confirmed on Tuesday.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said that Pakistan has officially been invited to participate in the Gaza-related Board of Peace. He noted that the invitation reflects Pakistan’s continued engagement in international efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in Gaza.

The spokesperson emphasized that Pakistan will continue to play a proactive role in global initiatives for peace and security in Gaza and will remain in close contact with the international community to support efforts toward sustainable peace in the region.

Andrabi reiterated Pakistan’s longstanding position that a permanent solution to the Palestine issue must be in accordance with United Nations resolutions. He added that Pakistan will continue to support diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace in the Middle East.

It is worth noting that the White House had earlier announced the names of members associated with the Gaza Board of Peace under Trump’s proposed plan. The establishment of the board is a key component of the former president’s Gaza peace initiative.

According to the plan, the Gaza Board of Peace is intended to coordinate security, humanitarian assistance, and reconstruction efforts, while also facilitating reforms within the Palestinian Authority and governance structures.

Meanwhile, Israel has rejected the formation of the Gaza Board, stating that it contradicts Israeli government policy. According to foreign media reports, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said Israel was not consulted regarding the board’s formation. The statement added that Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar would raise the issue with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
