Turkey has officially accepted the invitation to join the ‘Board of Peace’ initiative led by former US President Donald Trump, marking another significant international endorsement of the platform aimed at addressing regional conflicts, including Gaza.
According to foreign news agencies, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will represent President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the Board of Peace. President Trump had extended invitations to several world leaders, including the Turkish president, to become members of the board.
President Erdoğan confirmed the development while speaking to journalists in parliament, stating that Hakan Fidan would participate in the board on Turkey’s behalf. The formal signing ceremony of the Board of Peace, chaired by Donald Trump, is scheduled to take place on Thursday in Davos, Switzerland, on the sidelines of the annual World Economic Forum meeting.
Earlier reports revealed that Hakan Fidan is also a member of a separate ‘Gaza Executive Board’, which includes US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.
Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Hakan Fidan will attend the signing ceremony and represent Turkey at the highest level within the Board of Peace framework.
It is noteworthy that Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Azerbaijan, Israel, Morocco, and Egypt have already accepted invitations to join the Board of Peace. According to Trump’s special representative Steve Witkoff, around 20 to 25 global leaders have so far joined the initiative.
