Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir Reaffirms Pakistan’s Unwavering Support for Kashmir During Muzaffarabad Visit

Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, has reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment to the Kashmir cause, declaring that the region will soon witness a “new dawn of freedom” that reflects the collective will and destiny of the Kashmiri people. His remarks came during an official visit to Muzaffarabad, where he paid tribute to the martyrs of the Kashmir freedom movement and reviewed the operational readiness of troops deployed along the Line of Control.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief began his visit by laying a floral wreath at the Jammu and Kashmir Martyrs’ Memorial. He offered prayers and honored the sacrifices made by those who laid down their lives in the struggle for self-determination. The ceremony was attended by senior military officials, distinguished local figures, and former servicemen, highlighting the symbolic importance of the occasion.

Paying Tribute to the Martyrs of the Kashmir Struggle

While addressing the gathering at the memorial, Field Marshal Asim Munir praised the courage, resilience, and selfless sacrifices of the martyrs associated with the Kashmir movement. He described their struggle as a testament to the unwavering determination of the Kashmiri people, emphasizing that their sacrifices continue to inspire future generations.

He noted that despite decades of hardship, oppression, and violence, the spirit of the Kashmiri people remains unbroken. The army chief underlined that the sacrifices rendered by the martyrs would never be forgotten and would remain a guiding force in Pakistan’s principled stance on the Kashmir issue.

Strong Criticism of Indian Policies in Kashmir

During interactions with prominent personalities and retired military officers, the field marshal strongly criticized India’s policies in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He stated that India’s state-sponsored aggression and serious human rights violations have failed to suppress the resolve of the Kashmiri people.

He further remarked that policies rooted in Hindutva ideology have instead intensified resistance and strengthened the freedom struggle. According to him, the continued denial of basic rights, demographic changes, and excessive use of force have only exposed the reality of India’s actions before the international community.

Pakistan’s Continued Political and Diplomatic Support

Reaffirming Pakistan’s position, Field Marshal Asim Munir stated that Pakistan will continue to extend political, moral, and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people. He emphasized that the Kashmir issue remains a core national concern and will be raised forcefully at international forums.

He reiterated that a just and lasting resolution of the Kashmir dispute lies in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people. Pakistan, he said, will persist in highlighting human rights abuses in the region and advocating for international attention and accountability.

The army chief’s remarks reinforced Pakistan’s longstanding policy of supporting a peaceful resolution while standing firmly with the Kashmiri people in their legitimate struggle.

Visit to Forward Positions Along the Line of Control

As part of his visit, the ISPR said the Chief of Army Staff also traveled to forward positions along the Line of Control, where he met officers and soldiers deployed in challenging operational environments. He lauded their high morale, discipline, and dedication to duty, acknowledging the demanding conditions under which they continue to serve.

Field Marshal Asim Munir reviewed the operational preparedness of the units and stressed the importance of maintaining seamless coordination at all levels. He emphasized vigilance and readiness, particularly in the face of evolving security challenges along the eastern border.

Emphasis on Readiness Against Conventional and Hybrid Threats

Addressing the troops, the army chief praised their professionalism, combat readiness, and commitment to safeguarding the nation’s frontiers. He stated that despite difficult operational conditions, the armed forces have demonstrated exceptional resilience and preparedness.

He warned that any hostile action by the adversary would be met with a swift, effective, and decisive response. According to him, Pakistan’s armed forces are fully prepared to counter both conventional and hybrid threats, ensuring the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The field marshal highlighted the importance of continuous training, situational awareness, and unity of effort to respond effectively to emerging security dynamics in the region.

Broader Significance of the Visit

Defense analysts view the visit as a strong message of reassurance to the Kashmiri people and a clear signal of Pakistan’s enduring commitment to the Kashmir cause. At a time of heightened regional tensions, the army chief’s statements underscore Pakistan’s resolve to pursue diplomatic advocacy while maintaining robust defensive preparedness.

The visit also served to boost the morale of troops stationed along the Line of Control, reinforcing confidence in leadership and national defense policy.

As regional developments continue to unfold, Field Marshal Asim Munir’s remarks reflect Pakistan’s consistent stance that the aspirations of the Kashmiri people cannot be ignored. His declaration that Kashmir will witness a new morning of freedom echoes Pakistan’s belief that justice and self-determination will ultimately prevail.
