PCB Refutes Captaincy Switch Speculation Involving Shan Masood and Mohammad Rizwan

Lahore: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) stepped into the spotlight today to shut down swirling rumors about looming leadership changes in the national cricket squad.

In a clear cut statement shared across their official social media channels, the board underscored that Shan Masood remains firmly in command of Pakistan’s Test side, and there is no plan to appoint Saud Shakeel as his successor. Simultaneously, speculation that Mohammad Rizwan's role as ODI captain is under threat was labeled completely false, with the PCB confirming that Salman Ali Agha is not being considered for the top white-ball post

Further dismissing all conjecture, PCB clarified that the selection committee has not even broached the topic of captaincy adjustments, and no central contract categories for players have seen any updates.

These corrective remarks follow a wave of unfounded reports suggesting the board was eyeing a split captaincy model—separating red-ball and white-ball leadership roles—triggering widespread speculation among fans and insiders alike

With national commitments on the horizon, Pakistan is poised to compete in the Tri-Nation T20I series in Sharjah (August 29 – September 7), before diving into the highly anticipated Asia Cup 2025

Why this matters:

Reaffirms stability—trust in captaincy continues.
Muting rumors—saving fans from distractions on the eve of important tournaments.
Signaling cohesion—PCB pushes unity ahead of high-stakes series.
