According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), Rauf was found guilty of breaching the ICC Code of Conduct related to inappropriate gestures that could provoke or incite spectators.
The incident occurred after a crucial phase of the game when Rauf gestured toward the crowd, symbolizing “6-0,” a reference that was widely interpreted as directed at the opposing team’s fans. Match referee Andy Pycroft imposed the fine following an on-field review.
Rauf has accepted the sanction and expressed regret, saying he did not intend to disrespect anyone but acted in the heat of the moment. The decision comes as a reminder for players to maintain discipline both on and off the field.
Cricket analysts suggest that while the penalty is a setback for the bowler, his fiery performance continues to make him one of Pakistan’s most talked-about cricketers.
