Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone 17 Pro Max, the flagship device in its latest iPhone 17 lineup, featuring major upgrades in performance, design, and battery life. The launch event was held at Apple Park, where CEO Tim Cook introduced the device as “the most powerful and advanced iPhone ever created.”
According to Apple, the iPhone 17 Pro Max comes with a 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR display capable of 3,000 nits peak brightness and a 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate, making it the brightest and smoothest iPhone screen to date.
The phone is powered by the new A19 Pro chip, built on a 3nm architecture with a vapor chamber cooling system to boost efficiency and gaming performance. Apple claims this is the fastest smartphone chip in the world.
In terms of photography, the iPhone 17 Pro Max introduces a triple 48MP Fusion camera system with Apple’s longest-ever optical zoom of 8×. The front-facing camera has been upgraded to 18MP with Center Stage, ideal for video calls and content creation. Video professionals will benefit from new tools including ProRes RAW, Apple Log 2, and Dual Capture.
Battery life has been significantly improved, with the Pro Max delivering up to 39 hours of playback time, making it the longest-lasting iPhone so far. Charging is faster with 25W MagSafe and support for Qi 2.2 wireless charging.
Connectivity also sees a leap forward with Apple’s new N1 wireless chip, offering Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread support. The updated C1X 5G modem doubles connection speeds compared to the iPhone 16 series.
For the first time, Apple is pushing eSIM-only models in select countries, eliminating physical SIM cards in certain regions.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max will be available in Deep Blue, Cosmic Orange, and Silver finishes, with storage options up to 2TB. Pre-orders begin on September 12, and the phone will be available worldwide from September 19, starting at $1,199 in the U.S.
Industry analysts say the iPhone 17 Pro Max sets a new benchmark for smartphones, combining professional-grade photography, exceptional battery life, and futuristic connectivity in one device.
