Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman and former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari visited the Guddu Barrage on Tuesday to review precautionary measures being taken in anticipation of potential flooding.

During the visit, Bilawal was briefed by irrigation officials and local administration about the current water flow situation, safety measures at the barrage, and emergency response plans for nearby districts. Officials informed him about the arrangements for monitoring embankments, evacuation routes, and the deployment of rescue teams in case of rising water levels.

Bilawal emphasized that protecting lives and property of citizens was the top priority of the Sindh government. He directed concerned departments to remain on high alert and ensure the availability of food, clean drinking water, and medical facilities in flood-prone areas.

He also urged the irrigation department to strengthen weak points along the river embankments and instructed district administrations to coordinate closely with disaster management authorities.

Speaking to the media, Bilawal said: “The people of Sindh have faced floods before with courage. This time, we are ensuring that timely measures are in place to minimize losses and safeguard vulnerable communities.”

The Sindh Irrigation Department confirmed that water inflows at Guddu Barrage are being monitored round-the-clock. Authorities have also appealed to residents of low-lying areas to stay prepared and follow official advisories.
