The JI chief recalled that Pakistan had faced extremely difficult situations in the past but still managed to defeat its enemies. He pointed out that in 2017 Pakistan was compelled to seek loans from the IMF and World Bank, which marked the beginning of a new debt cycle.
Hafiz Naeem criticized successive governments for failing to take concrete measures regarding the increasing burden of external loans. He said that the loan system needs accountability, and those responsible for pushing Pakistan into debt should be identified.
The JI leader stressed that instead of taking delayed measures after crises, governments must focus on timely and preventive actions to protect the nation. He questioned: “Where is the statesmanship if decisions are always reactionary?”
Hafiz Naeem further said that forcing the common man to pay for the elite’s mismanagement is unjust, and a fair system of governance and accountability is the only way forward.
