Islamabad (6 September 2025) — United States Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker has reaffirmed Washington’s support for Pakistan in the wake of recent floods, announcing relief assistance for the affected population.
According to officials, the US government has arranged six special relief flights carrying tents, generators, and dewatering pumps. The first flight arrived today at Nur Khan Air Base, Rawalpindi, where the consignment was handed over to the Pakistan Army.
Speaking on the occasion, Natalie Baker expressed solidarity with the people of Pakistan and said the United States would continue to stand by them during this difficult time, extending full support to relief operations in flood-hit areas.
Meanwhile, the Chargé d’Affaires also visited the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) in Islamabad. A two-day consultative session was held between the US delegation and NDMA officials to discuss disaster preparedness, climate change challenges, and strengthening rescue operations.
During the briefing, NDMA highlighted its modern disaster management framework, which the US delegation termed a model for the region. Baker assured continued American cooperation in areas of technical expertise, early warning systems, and logistical support.
Officials said discussions also covered risk financing strategies, contingency funds, and insurance mechanisms aimed at improving Pakistan’s capacity to respond to future large-scale natural disasters.
