Islamabad: The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) issued a special message today marking Defence Day, commemorating Pakistan’s historic victory in the 1965 war and honoring the sacrifices of the nation’s martyrs and veterans.
In its official statement, ISPR emphasized that Defence Day symbolizes the unwavering resolve, unity, and courage of the Pakistani nation in the face of adversity.
Tribute to 1965 War Heroes
“On this day, we pay glowing tribute to the valiant soldiers who defended Pakistan against formidable odds in 1965,” the statement read. “Their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering spirit remain a timeless source of inspiration for generations.”
The armed forces recalled how Pakistani soldiers and the entire nation stood shoulder-to-shoulder, defeating the enemy’s designs and proving that Pakistan’s defense is unshakable.
Remembering Martyrs and Veterans
The ISPR further honored the families of martyrs, veterans, and those who sacrificed in wars and the fight against terrorism:
“We salute our martyrs from 1947 to date — especially those who laid down their lives fighting terrorism. Their sacrifices will never be forgotten. The families of martyrs bore immense personal loss with courage and resilience, and the nation remains forever indebted to them.”
Armed Forces’ Commitment
The statement reaffirmed that the Pakistan Armed Forces remain fully prepared to defend the sovereignty and integrity of the country:
“The spirit of September 1965 lives on. The Pakistan Armed Forces stand side by side with the people and law enforcement agencies, ready to defend the motherland with passion, courage, and dedication.”
National Resolve
ISPR underlined that Defence Day is not only a remembrance of past sacrifices but also a pledge of future resilience:
“September 6 serves as a reminder of the indomitable will of the Pakistani nation and its armed forces. It is a day of unity, sacrifice, and pride, reminding us that the defense of Pakistan is a sacred trust.”
