Islamabad: Supreme Court’s senior judge Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah has written another letter to Chief Justice Yahya Afridi just before the start of the new judicial year.
In his latest communication, Justice Shah raised concerns about the judicial appointment process and seniority matters, emphasizing the need for transparency and adherence to constitutional requirements.
The letter highlights that the President of Pakistan must consult the Chief Justice on such issues, a process Justice Shah says was ignored in recent decisions. He cautioned that bypassing these protocols could undermine judicial independence and weaken public trust in the judiciary.
The Supreme Court has not yet issued an official response, but the timing of this letter—right at the beginning of the judicial year—has created fresh debate within legal and political circles.
