Torrential rains have once again paralyzed Karachi, plunging several key neighborhoods into severe flooding. Areas including New Karachi, North Karachi, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Surjani Town, Hassan Noman Colony, and Javed Bahria Colony have been submerged, leaving residents stranded.
According to rescue officials, dozens of houses have been inundated, forcing families to seek shelter at safer locations. Boats and rescue teams have been deployed to evacuate people trapped in floodwaters. In some areas, water levels rose so high that even vehicles were completely submerged.
The heaviest impact has been reported from New Karachi and North Karachi, where water entered homes and markets, disrupting normal life. Residents complained that municipal authorities were slow to respond despite repeated appeals for help.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that power outages have affected hundreds of feeders, plunging large parts of the city into darkness. Citizens said they were facing severe hardships due to a lack of electricity, drinking water, and blocked roads.
Meanwhile, the Sindh government has instructed local authorities and the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) to remain on high alert and intensify rescue operations. The Pakistan Navy and Edhi Foundation have also sent rescue teams with boats to assist flood-hit families.
Meteorological officials warned that moderate to heavy rains may continue intermittently over the next several hours, raising fears of more flooding in low-lying areas.
Authorities have appealed to the public to avoid unnecessary travel and stay indoors until the situation improves.
