A surge in mosquito infestation across several cities has raised fears of a possible outbreak of mosquito-borne diseases, including dengue, malaria, and chikungunya.

Health officials have issued warnings after large breeding sites were discovered in stagnant water and poorly maintained urban areas. Hospitals in major cities have already reported a rise in patients with fever and body aches, symptoms often associated with viral infections carried by mosquitoes.

According to medical experts, the combination of prolonged monsoon rains, blocked drainage systems, and warm temperatures has created ideal conditions for mosquito breeding. Public health departments have urged citizens to take preventive measures such as using mosquito repellents, covering water containers, and ensuring cleanliness in and around homes.

Local administrations have also begun fumigation drives in affected neighborhoods, but residents complain that the measures are inadequate and inconsistent. Public health advocates warn that without a large-scale coordinated effort, the infestation could escalate into a full-fledged health crisis.

Authorities are monitoring the situation closely, with special directives issued to hospitals for early diagnosis and treatment of suspected cases.
