ISLAMABAD (Sept 6) – Pakistan’s ongoing special anti-polio drive has administered drops to over 92 million children across the country, according to the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC).
The campaign, which began earlier this week and will continue until 7 September, has been extended with catch-up days to ensure maximum coverage.
Breakdown by Region
- Punjab: Over 40 million children received polio drops.
- Sindh: Approximately 8.4 million children vaccinated.
- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Around 3.9 million children covered.
- Balochistan: About 2.1 million children vaccinated.
- Islamabad: Around 420,000 children received the vaccine.
- Gilgit-Baltistan: Nearly 112,000 children vaccinated.
- Azad Jammu & Kashmir: Over 164,000 children given polio drops.
NEOC officials confirmed that the drive achieved full completion in several provinces, while in others, additional teams were mobilized to reach missed children.
Health authorities stressed that Pakistan remains committed to eradicating polio, with zero tolerance for gaps in vaccination.
