The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has registered a formal case against social media influencer Rajab Butt on charges of promoting online gambling applications.

According to officials, Rajab Butt allegedly used his social media platforms to advertise and encourage the use of mobile applications linked to illegal betting and gambling activities. Authorities stated that such promotions not only violate Pakistan’s cyber laws but also pose significant risks to the financial security of young users.

The NCCIA confirmed that an inquiry has been launched, and digital evidence, including promotional videos, paid partnerships, and transaction details, is being reviewed.

Officials added that online gambling is a growing concern in Pakistan, often linked to financial fraud and exploitation. The case against Rajab Butt is being considered a test case to set an example for other influencers who misuse their platforms.

Further action will be taken following a detailed investigation, and Rajab Butt may face heavy fines and imprisonment if found guilty under Pakistan’s cybercrime and anti-gambling laws.
