Civil Defence authorities deployed Shaheen firefighting drones successfully to extinguish a blaze in a residential building in Al Barsha today, marking a notable advancement in aerial firefighting technology for high-rise emergencies.

The fire broke out in the Al Barsha area around 2:00 PM. Within six minutes of receiving the distress call, the Dubai Civil Defence teams were on site and launched the Shaheen drones to assist in suppressing the fire.

Officials say no injuries were reported, and residents were evacuated shortly after the alarm was raised. The drones, designed for tackling high-rise fires, were able to reach high elevations and help control flames that were difficult to access using traditional ground equipment.

The blaze was fully contained, and cooling operations are ongoing as the site awaits handover to the relevant safety authorities. The success underscores the growing role of drone-assisted firefighting in urban areas, especially in cities with many tall buildings like Dubai.
