Pakistan’s Prime Minister has praised the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a shining example of regional cooperation and connectivity under the umbrella of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).

Speaking at the recent SCO meeting, the Prime Minister highlighted that CPEC is not just a bilateral project between Pakistan and China but a gateway of trade, energy, and infrastructure development for the entire region. He noted that the initiative has created new opportunities for economic growth, employment, and people-to-people connections.

The Prime Minister stressed that Pakistan is committed to expanding the benefits of CPEC to other SCO member states, particularly in the fields of transport, digital economy, and renewable energy. He added that projects like CPEC prove the potential of the SCO in promoting integration, stability, and shared prosperity among its members.

He also called on SCO countries to strengthen cooperation in addressing climate change, food security, and regional peace, while ensuring that infrastructure projects remain inclusive and sustainable.

Observers believe that Pakistan’s emphasis on CPEC at the SCO platform reflects its strategy to position the project as a regional corridor, beyond Pakistan and China, linking Central Asia, South Asia, and the Middle East.
