Security forces conducted a successful intelligence-based operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing 17 militants belonging to the outlawed group referred to as Khawarij, according to official sources.
The operation was launched after credible reports of militant presence in the area. Heavy exchange of fire ensued, resulting in the elimination of 17 terrorists who were reportedly involved in attacks on civilians, security personnel, and government installations.
A cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was also recovered during the operation. Authorities confirmed that the militants had been planning large-scale attacks to destabilize the region.
Local residents expressed relief over the clearance of the area, while security officials reaffirmed their commitment to continue efforts until the complete eradication of terrorism from Pakistan.
The bodies of the slain militants have been shifted for identification, while a search operation remains underway to trace any facilitators or accomplices.
