Sri Lanka secured a comfortable six-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the fifth match of Asia Cup 2025 Group B at Sheikh Zayed Stadium tonight.
Opting to field first after winning the toss, Sri Lanka bowled out Bangladesh for 139/5. Bangladesh were under pressure early, losing two quick wickets, but a resilient 86-run stand between Jaker Ali and Shamim Hossain brought them back into contention.
During Sri Lanka’s chase, the innings was anchored by Pathum Nissanka, who played a mature knock, hitting his fifty and breaking into the record books as the fastest Sri Lankan to accumulate 2,000 T20I runs. Alongside him, Kamil Mishara provided key support, and together they guided Sri Lanka to the target with overs to spare.
Though Bangladesh’s bowlers made early inroads, Sri Lanka’s solid batting depth and better handling of pressure situations proved decisive. The win improves Sri Lanka’s standing in Group B, putting them in a stronger position as they seek to advance toward the Super Fours.
