Former U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to Hamas, demanding the immediate release of Israeli hostages still held in Gaza. Speaking during ongoing negotiations, Trump termed this his last warning” and cautioned that failure to comply could lead to “serious consequences.
According to international media reports, Trump revealed that the United States is engaged in “very deep negotiations” with Hamas over the hostage crisis. He said a new proposal has been presented under which 48 Israeli hostages would be freed on the first day of the agreement. In return, Israel would release a large number of Palestinian prisoners, followed by a temporary ceasefire and further talks on a broader settlement.
The former president stressed that any delay in releasing the hostages would worsen the situation. “If Hamas refuses, the outcome will be tough and nasty,” he warned.
This development comes as international pressure continues to mount on Hamas to accept a deal. Trump, who has been directly involved in backchannel efforts, said the U.S. is determined to ensure the safe return of the captives.
Israeli officials have not publicly responded to Trump’s remarks, but Tel Aviv has repeatedly maintained that the release of hostages remains its top priority. On the other hand, Hamas leaders have so far resisted American pressure, linking any exchange to a permanent ceasefire and greater concessions from Israel.
Observers believe the coming days will be critical in determining whether this fresh proposal can break the months-long deadlock or if the conflict risks further escalation.
