In a bizarre twist, Mark S. Zuckerberg, a bankruptcy attorney based in Indiana, has filed a lawsuit against Meta Platforms—parent company of Facebook—claiming his Facebook accounts were repeatedly suspended for “impersonating a celebrity” due to his shared name with Meta CEO Mark E. Zuckerberg.

According to court documents, his personal and business pages were disabled multiple times over the past several years, resulting in about $11,000 in lost advertising expenses. The lawyer likened the experience to buying a billboard only to have someone cover it up before anyone notices the ad.

Frustrated after years of disruptions and long appeals, the lawyer has now sued Meta in Marion Superior Court in Indianapolis, accusing the company of negligence and breach of contract. His legal fight has resonated widely—especially because of the uncanny irony of a Mark Zuckerberg suing another Mark Zuckerberg.

In its defense, Meta has acknowledged the mistake, stating they reinstated his account, calling the suspension an error, and noted they are working to prevent similar issues in the future
