A group of 48 Pakistani fishermen, released from Indian custody, arrived safely in Karachi on October 13.

According to a spokesperson for the Fishermen’s Cooperative Society (FCS), the fishermen were detained by Indian authorities between 2017 and 2021 near the Sir Creek area and were freed after years of imprisonment.

Upon arrival, the fishermen were taken to the Edhi Center in Karachi, where they were welcomed by FCS Chairperson Fatima Majeed and her team.

The spokesperson added that the Fishermen’s Cooperative Society played a key role in securing their release, while the Pakistan High Commission in India, along with the Ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs, assisted in the verification and repatriation process.
