Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, issued a stern warning to India on October 18, 2025, cautioning that any act of aggression would provoke a devastating military and economic response from Pakistan, including the potential use of its nuclear arsenal. Speaking during a military parade at the Pakistan Military Academy in Kakul, Munir said that any new conflict between the two nuclear-armed neighbors would inflict “unimaginable losses” and fundamentally alter the regional balance.
He emphasized that Pakistan seeks peace, not war, and urged India to resolve long-standing disputes, including the Kashmir issue, through dialogue, equality, and adherence to international norms. However, he asserted that Pakistan’s armed forces were “fully prepared to deliver disproportionate retaliation” to any provocation that threatens its sovereignty.
In response, India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh dismissed Pakistan’s warning, reiterating that “all of Pakistan lies within the operational range of India’s BrahMos missile system.” He cited Operation Sindoor, a previous limited strike mission, as an example of India’s military readiness and capability.
The renewed exchange of threats underscores the fragile stability in South Asia, where both nations maintain large nuclear arsenals amid escalating rhetoric and political tensions. International observers have urged restraint and renewed diplomatic engagement to prevent a wider regional crisis.
