A massive fire broke out in the cargo section of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, Bangladesh’s capital, triggering a state of emergency at the country’s busiest aviation hub. According to Bangladeshi media reports, all incoming and outgoing flights were temporarily suspended to prevent any major incident.
Fire Brigade officials confirmed that at least nine fire trucks were dispatched to the scene and are actively working to control the blaze. Thick plumes of smoke could be seen rising from the terminal and were visible several kilometers away, prompting rescue teams to evacuate surrounding areas as a precautionary measure.
So far, no casualties have been reported, and the cause of the fire remains unknown. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine what sparked the blaze at the airport’s cargo terminal.
