Facebook is making a significant change to its platform: users will now see 50 percent more Reels in their feeds. The company is updating its algorithm to prioritize fresh video content, aiming to surface posts users are more likely to engage with.
To support this shift, Facebook is integrating AI-based search tools that will tailor content recommendations based on user interests and behavior. Internal testing showed that spotlighting new and trending posts encourages users to return more frequently.
Jagdish Chaula, Facebook’s Product VP, stated that AI-generated content will be treated similarly to human-created content in the ranking system — the key factor will be how users interact with it. He also mentioned features like “friend bubble” previews on Reels and changes to how posts are filtered based on interest signals will be rolled out.
In short: Facebook is leaning even harder into video content and personalization, with AI tools and algorithm tweaks at the heart of its next phase.
