The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has called on the international community to exert pressure on Israel to honor the ongoing ceasefire agreement, accusing it of multiple violations since the truce began.
In a statement, Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem said that Israeli forces have continued to breach the terms of the ceasefire, resulting in the killing of 90 Palestinians since the agreement took effect. He cited the closure of the Rafah border crossing and Israel’s efforts to block humanitarian aid as major violations undermining peace efforts.
Qassem also acknowledged and welcomed the United States’ stance against Israel’s possible annexation of the occupied West Bank, calling it a positive diplomatic step.
According to Arab media, Hamas reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the success and implementation of the Gaza peace agreement, saying it has received clear guarantees from Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye, with the U.S. confirming its support for the process.
The spokesperson added that Hamas has already handed over surviving hostages and several bodies to Israel as part of the first phase of the ceasefire implementation, expressing hope that continued adherence to the deal could pave the way for lasting stability in the region.
