Indian ODI vice-captain Shreyas Iyer has released his first official statement following a serious rib injury sustained while fielding during the third and final ODI against Australia in Sydney on October 25.

The 29-year-old cricketer suffered a severe blow to his ribs while taking a catch, which led to internal bleeding and required him to be admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for observation and treatment. His injury was described as serious but stable, and he was kept under close medical supervision for several days.

In his first message after the incident, Shreyas Iyer took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to update fans about his recovery and express gratitude for their support.

“I’m currently in the recovery phase and feeling better with each passing day. I’m deeply thankful for all the prayers and good wishes — they mean a lot to me. Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts,” he wrote.

Iyer’s reassuring message has brought relief to Indian cricket fans who had been anxiously following updates on his health. Team management sources confirmed that his recovery is progressing well, though a final return timeline will depend on medical evaluations in the coming weeks.
