Security forces in Bajaur district successfully thwarted an attempted cross-border infiltration from Afghanistan, killing four militants, including their key leader Amjad alias Mazahim, during an operation conducted on the night of October 29–30, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The ISPR stated that the militants’ movements were detected in time, allowing the forces to respond promptly and neutralize the threat. Amjad, a deputy to militant leader Noor Wali and head of the Shura of the Indian-backed faction Fitnah-ul-Khawarij, had a bounty of PKR 5 million on his head and was involved in multiple terrorist activities targeting Pakistan while operating from Afghanistan.
The operation underscores the continuing use of Afghan territory by militants as safe havens to plan and execute attacks in Pakistan. The ISPR reiterated Pakistan’s call to the interim Afghan government to prevent the misuse of Afghan soil for terrorism.
Security forces remain engaged in a clearance operation to eliminate remaining militants operating under Indian backing in the region. These efforts form part of Pakistan’s broader counterterrorism campaign under “Vision Azm-e-Istihkam”, aimed at ensuring long-term stability along the Pak-Afghan border.
