In a significant diplomatic development, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has offered to play a mediatory role in easing tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The offer came during a meeting between President Pezeshkian and Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Tehran.

During the meeting, both sides discussed Pakistan-Iran bilateral relations, regional stability, and opportunities for mutual cooperation. President Pezeshkian expressed Iran’s willingness to act as a brotherly mediator to help resolve the ongoing strain between Islamabad and Kabul.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi conveyed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s message of goodwill to the Iranian president and emphasized that Pakistan and Iran are partners in promoting regional peace and stability.

President Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s strong commitment to its relationship with Pakistan, stating that Tehran deeply values Islamabad’s longstanding friendship and support. He noted that both nations have tremendous potential to expand cooperation across multiple sectors.

The Iranian president also expressed satisfaction over the current state of bilateral relations, emphasizing that enhanced engagement could further strengthen economic, security, and cultural ties between the two neighboring countries.

This development comes at a critical time when Pakistan-Afghanistan relations have been strained over border security and cross-border militancy issues. Iran’s offer may provide a diplomatic channel to de-escalate tensions in the volatile region.
