Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz chaired a high-level meeting on law and order, during which a series of extraordinary decisions were made to strengthen the rule of law and assert the authority of the state across the province.
According to official sources, the Punjab government has decided to enforce the Loudspeaker Act more strictly, with all districts directed to ensure full compliance. In addition, “whistleblower cells” will be established in every district to encourage public reporting of extremist groups and illegally residing foreign nationals through the 15 emergency helpline.
The meeting also approved a comprehensive campaign to eliminate illegal weapons and dismantle mafia and “dada” culture from Punjab. “No one will be allowed to challenge state authority,” the Chief Minister asserted.
Furthermore, Peace Committees are being restructured to become more effective and inclusive, ensuring that they are actively involved in all ongoing operations. The government will also introduce mobile police stations to deliver services directly to citizens’ doorsteps.
Officials emphasized that combing operations are strictly targeted against extremist mindsets and not directed at any sect or religious belief. The provincial administration also imposed a complete ban on advertisements, posters, and displays linked to extremist outfits, with daily progress reports to be submitted on illegal residents and their business involvements.
Citizens have been warned not to rent shops or houses to illegal foreign nationals, as legal action will be taken against violators. Additionally, the meeting decided to implement a zero-tolerance policy against hate speech and online incitement, with cases to be registered under the PECA Act against those spreading sectarian or inflammatory content.
The Chief Minister reiterated her government’s commitment to maintaining peace and order, stating that “Punjab will not tolerate lawlessness, extremism, or digital hate campaigns. The writ of the state will prevail.”
